Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience. May have Master’s degree in related field. Often holds entry-level certification(s) in work field. May hold intermediate-level certification(s) in work field. Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience

Key tasks

• Translate business requirements into technical requirements for designing and delivering network tools architectures, solutions, and services for the area of Portal and Dashboards
• Work and provide support for network tools across functional areas
• Participate in the design and deployment of solutions for the NSRA Global Leveraged instance, and NSRA Dedicated instances
• Promote and deliver automation by leading and guiding the design of automation initiatives to reduce time to serve, and increase productivity and efficiency
• Work closely with Network Ops and Engineering for the successful development and implementation of network solutions for the Portal and Dashboard areas
• Validate strategies, requirements, and assumptions for rapidly onboarding new clients or migrating existing clients to the NSRA network solution
• Lead the creation and design of models, processes, methodologies, and tools for the Portal and Dashboard
• Work with other teams within the organization in the creation of new services and offerings
• Collaborate with Network Tools partners and providers for innovating and defining solutions and tools for meeting objectives in the network tools space. Collaborate with them to revise and influence their products roadmaps to meet our requirements
• Prepare, deliver, and maintain solution documentation
• Prepare, deliver, and attend training and mentoring sessions, conferences, etc. to continuously improve technical expertise of network tools technologies
• Mentor developers and other team members as needed
• Promote and harvest intellectual capital
• Provide SME Production Support (4th Level) for the Portal and Dashboard area

Key skills/competencies

• 5+ years of Experience with network tools solution design, architecture, and automation for managing IP Networks (Data, Voice/Video) using multiple networking technologies and topologies (LAN, WAN, Wireless, Internet, Firewalls)
• 5+ years of hands-on using and developing Portals and Dashboards using Data Analytics and Web Based Technologies, including:
• Vertica Database
• QlikView
• 5 + years of Experience designing and developing using a primary programming language (i.e. Java, PHP) and / or scripting languages (Perl, Unix shell, others)
• 5+ years of Expertise using RDBMS databases, SQL and other programmatic mechanisms for accessing those databases
• Expertise defining data models, reading them, and converting them into design and API for execution
• Expertise using, developing, or integrating network tools from 3rd party providers like Micro Focus (OML, NNMi, iSPI, HPNA) and other similar tools from tier-1 network management vendors.
• Working Experience for using Linux and Windows as User and some knowledge as Admin
• Excellent communications and analytical skills to obtain requirements, develop technical specifications and designs, and for developing and delivering presentations to stakeholders from multiple network functional areas
• Deep and applied understanding of network technologies and concepts, including:
§ Service Provider network concepts: multi-tenancy, secured compartments, distributed systems, data center infrastructure components, NAT, VLAN, TAP/SPAN, Reverse-Proxy, Latency, Scalability, and others
§ Protocols: SNMP, TACACS, SSH, DNS, Flow based, others
§ Standards: transport layer protocols (UDP, TCP) and IP (IPv4/v6)
§ Data flows and integration with API Gateways:
§ Within domain tools
§ Between domains
§ Outside to 3rd party providers
• 2+ years of applied Security knowledge: network device access, encryption, PCI, 2-Factor Authentication, and Firewalls Rules definition
• Knowledge of  OSI layers 1-7 and its implications for each functional area
• Good understanding of the Network Operating environment and ITIL processes
• Knowledge and experience on designing and / or developing workflow, provisioning, and self-service automation tools and technologies
• Desired knowledge of configuration and operation commands (CLI) for network devices (switches, routers, firewalls) for tier-1 vendors (Cisco, HPN, Checkpoint)
Be able to:
• Describe new IT and networking concepts and their applicability / implications for the functional area. Concepts include: Software Defined Networks (SDN), Virtualization, Networking Run-Book-Automation (RBA), and others.
• Work well with others in a global setup with a team distributed across time zones
• Commit time to continuing education in regard to domain technologies
• Coordinate, guide, and mentor other technical people
