I am Mou Roy, born and brought up in Ranchi. A born artist, that's what everybody used to tell me since the time I was a little girl of around 6 years old. Born in a Bengali family, I am the youngest of the 4 sisters and always been loved and pampered by all. My father was in a reputed Engineering company and was the only working person in the family. We lived a simple life. Bringing up 4 daughters was not an easy job in a place like Ranchi but my mother always taught us to live happily and comfortably with whatever little we were provided. I had a strong inclination for painting and art and this was especially noticed by my elder sister, who is almost 9 years senior to me. She supported and encouraged me all throughout and her support is strong even today. I was so very skilled in arts that my own Guru Shri CP Mishra had once said that I am capable of teaching others. Whether you will believe me or not, I started art classes at my home when I was in class 6 and I used to teach kids of my age and other little kids to hold the brush and paint. I had an artistic inclination all throughout and soon after my graduation, I got involved in dramatics and theatre and films, both Bhojpuri and Hindi. I was in Mumbai too to try my luck in the entertainment world. I have more than 20 years of theater experience since I started from a very young age.
But life was full of struggles for me. I could not pursue my career in acting nor could I pursue a career in painting. My father had a major brain stroke. I came back to Ranchi to take care of my parents. I did a number of jobs during this time as a Business Advisor, Relations Officer, TV host, and so on. Got married in 2011 - an inter-caste marriage, became a mother to a baby girl in 2012. My mother died in 2014 January. In February, I met with a severe accident, could not even walk or stand properly for 6 months. As and when I started to recover, tragedy struck once again. My husband was diagnosed with rectum cancer in 2015 February. We faced a severe financial crisis at that time. I tried my level best to save him but unfortunately, he left for his heavenly abode in 2015 April. And my father expired in 2015 December. So, it seemed tragedies had become part of my life.
Now I am with my little daughter and my elder sister’s family. I know I have this inherent talent to paint. So, I felt, why not start my own painting business? This is a new venture for me. But my paintings have been quite appreciated and thankfully, my paintings have adorned the walls of a reputed real estate builder’s offices and in the homes of few known circles. I am at the initial phase of my home business but I have kept myself positive to do well in what I love doing the most. In spite of all struggles and bad days, I try to remain happy and positive in life with my little daughter by my side
