I am Pooja Bhagwatiprasad Tawarawala. I belong to a very small town called Khetiya in Madhya Pradesh. After marriage, I settled down in Jalna, Maharashtra.
I am a housewife and a mother of 3 children. My daughters Aastha and Diya are 19 years and 15 years of age and my son is 9 years old. Married for more than 20 years now. I started my business in the year 2016 at the insistence of my younger sister Arti and my aunt Mamta.
I have a great fascination of making creative items at home. It was my sister and aunt who once suggested that I should find some work in Jalna as Jalna has great exposure for handicraft items. But I always wanted to do something of my own where I can use my own creative talent.
Launch of Fancy Mats
In 2015, I displayed my products in an exhibition. I got an overwhelming response and this gave me the confidence to start my own business. Thus, in 2016, I started my business and I named my company Fancy Mats. I started selling in Jalna and all across India. I started selling online. My initial product was only handmade mats in different designs and sizes. But, as of now, my product line includes not only fancy mats but also other ethnic handmade items like as fancy pouches, chouki cover, thali cover, table runner, coasters, aakash kandil, gifting cover etc.
Thankfully, by the grace of God, I have been able to supply my products outside India too. I offer both wholesale and retail items. Today, I have a small workshop in which I have hired 4 tailors who make my items as per my designs. I always try to implement ethnic designs on my products using zaris, borders, silks, jute, and other traditional elements. All my products are perfect for home décor and as gifts, retaining the traditional Indian touch in look and feel.
I have great support from my husband, my father and father-in-law, and blessings of my dear grandfather who is always by my side.
