Hi! I am Ruchi, mother of two beautiful girls. I was working as a teacher since last 18 years in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. I enjoyed my teaching profession but somehow I always felt that there was something missing in my life. I had an inclination towards artistic work from a very long time but was not sure how to go about it.
As and when I got time after coming back from school and doing my regular household activities, I read articles and blogs on crafting. I started developing more interest on this and this compelled me to take a professional training from Craft & Social Development Organization, a vocational training institute in Orissa.
Launch of my home business
Slowly, I gained confidence. Seven years back, I started my own home business on a small scale. To be very frank, like most married woman, I became a multi-tasker in the real sense - a teacher, a wife, a mother and an entrepreneur. I enjoy what I do. I have been making hand crafted soaps and chocolates, which are all made to order by my friends, family and well wishers. In the meantime, I also started my own arts and crafts workshop, where I teach kids paper crafts.
Starting this business was not a big problem for me. The only constraint was time management as I was a teacher and an entrepreneur along with growing kids. But now the kids are all grown up, I gave up my teaching profession and I have lot of time in my hand. It’s recently, I shifted to Delhi. Here, I am starting my business all over again. New set up, new place and new customers - Yes, this is going to take some time but I have full faith in my abilities and I am sure to come out successful in this home venture.
Words of advice
So girls, crux is that problems are always there whenever we want to do something of our own, but never give up and keep going.
